About the Project
Echoes of the Past: Crafting Future Leaders Through Heritage and Environment is an Erasmus+ KA210-SCH project that connects cultural and natural heritage, environmental sustainability, education and active citizenship.
The project aims to help students develop a deeper understanding of their cultural and natural heritage and recognise its importance in shaping personal identity, community and a shared European sense of belonging.
By exploring the links between heritage and environmental sustainability, students are encouraged to become responsible, engaged and creative citizens who value cultural diversity, protect their environment and actively contribute to their communities.
Our Objectives
The project aims to:
- raise students’ awareness of the social, cultural and environmental importance of heritage;
- strengthen students’ understanding of their own identity and sense of belonging;
- promote respect for cultural diversity and shared European values;
- encourage responsible and sustainable use of natural resources;
- develop civic engagement, social responsibility and community leadership;
- strengthen students’ creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
- promote digital literacy, entrepreneurship and innovative thinking;
- develop empathy, emotional intelligence, resilience and positive social interaction;
- empower students to take an active role in heritage conservation and environmental protection.
Erasmus+ Priorities
The project contributes particularly to the Erasmus+ priorities:
Common Values, Civic Engagement and Participation
Students explore heritage as a means of understanding identity, diversity, common values and active citizenship while taking part in activities that encourage responsibility and engagement in their communities.
Supporting Innovators at School
Through interdisciplinary, digital and experiential learning activities, students and teachers explore innovative approaches to heritage education, sustainability and community participation.
What Will We Create?
Throughout the project, students and teachers will collaboratively develop a range of educational resources and practical activities, including:
- teaching and training materials on cultural and natural heritage and sustainability;
- lesson plans and curriculum modules integrating heritage and environmental education;
- digital learning resources and e-learning content;
- gamified activities related to heritage and environmental challenges;
- heritage- and environment-themed workshops;
- interdisciplinary projects promoting critical thinking, creativity and entrepreneurship;
- practical guides for teachers;
- student-led community initiatives related to heritage conservation and environmental protection.
Expected Impact
Through project activities, students will gain a stronger appreciation of cultural and natural heritage and develop a deeper connection with their local communities while discovering the diversity of European cultures.
They will develop knowledge, skills and attitudes that support sustainable lifestyles, active citizenship and responsible use of natural resources. Collaborative and interdisciplinary activities will also strengthen creativity, problem-solving, communication, empathy and teamwork.
Most importantly, students will be encouraged not only to learn about heritage and the environment, but also to become active participants in their preservation and protection.
Sustainability
The educational materials, lesson plans, digital resources, teacher guides and other project results will be designed so that they can continue to be used after the project has ended.
By making the results accessible and adaptable, the project aims to support other teachers and schools and contribute to a wider culture of heritage awareness, environmental responsibility and active citizenship across Europe
